#SharkSwim: January 2021 Recap
The start of the new year always brings about a mix of emotions. There’s excitement for all that could come in 2021 meshed with a bit of sadness over the holidays being done and a longing for warmer weather. For us, we started 2021 with a bang as we worked on some exciting new client projects!
The month of January was filled with Google Ads campaigns, new creative requests, and a little bit of celebration. We also added some more space (previewed in last month’s blog), allowing us to welcome more team members back to the office. All of the bodies of water in North Dakota may be frozen, but that won’t keep us from putting on our suits and diving into the January Shark Swim!
A New Year’s Day Away From The Office
We kicked off our first day of 2021 with a paid holiday for our crew. The entire AdShark team enjoyed a Friday away from the office, spending time with their families and friends. After a busy fourth quarter in 2020, it was great to provide the staff with a long weekend to relax before jumping back into the swing of things on Monday, January 4th. The time was spent cooking, cleaning, and binging TV (we’ve been loving The Umbrella Academy and The Undoing). We hope you all enjoyed your time ringing in the new year, as well!
The National Bagel Day Giveaway!
Did you know January 15th was National Bagel Day? Well, if you follow us on Facebook or Instagram you likely found that out. In honor of our love of bagels (and specifically, BernBaum’s Bagels) we gave away 2 $25 gift cards on our social channels to help celebrate. Our winners, Kayla and Cassie, were sent their winning cards in the mail and even took the time to snap a lovely Instagram photo to prove it. Tune in to our channels for more giveaways in the coming months!
AdShark’s Virtual Holiday Party!
We waited until after the new year to have our holiday party, and it looked a little different this year (we were all in our own homes!). Still, our crew was able to gather together in a Zoom Room and celebrate the successes of 2020. The event consisted of:
- DadShark making an appearance as a bartender, and walking us through how to make a “Shark Bite” cocktail (complete with blue curaçao and grenadine!)
- Rick and Sean giving us a little motivational speech
- Whitney leading a 2 truths and a lie game
- Nick leading White Elephant (word to the wise – virtual white elephant can work, and was super fun!)
- Jack running a game of trivia
- Our Sharky Award celebration (which you’ve probably seen on our social channels)

Creative Team Officially Moves to Their New Space!
In last month’s Shark Swim, you saw us reveal the new space that we added on for our creative team. All five of our designers and copywriters have officially moved their desks to the open space which includes some new carpet, comfortable furniture (continually being added), and – most importantly – windows! The new space has already been invigorating, and also opened up more room for us to add a more robust studio setup at the AdShark HQ for photo, video, and additional creative needs. We’re looking forward to having visitors come back to our office to see the new digs, but here’s an early preview:
Introducing Our New Client, Center for Plastic Surgery!
It’s been a delight to work with Nick, Karisa, and the team at Center for Plastic Surgery as they get their practice going. CFPS is Dr. Nick Adams’ practice, and he conducts plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgery. The team at CFPS is committed to a personalized and curated approach to their services and is set to move into a new location in late February. Our team has had the pleasure of working with Center for Plastic Surgery on their Google Ads. Make sure to go check out their website and like their Facebook Page to show some support!
The ‘Shark Wave’ Channel for January 2021
Music continues to provide fuel to our creation of ad campaigns. The AdShark team joined together, once again, to create the ‘Shark Wave’ Spotify playlist that you’ve all come to know and love. This month’s edition has everything from Shakey Graves to Colter Wall included in it. We think you’ll find a tune (or 20) that you love. These tunes played the backdrop to our ad creation in the month of January, and we hope they provide you some inspiration as well! Enjoy:
Our team has big goals set aside for 2021, and we’re so excited to already be one month in! Thanks to all of our clients, co-workers, and community friends for helping us along the way. We had a wonderful time in January, and are looking forward to the months to come! We’ll see you right back here in February.
