#SharkSwim: March 2023 Recap
Welcome back to another #SharkSwim monthly recap for March 2023! I’d love to make some puns about Spring, budding flowers, and green grass, but I’m currently writing this in April during the biggest blizzard of the year. No matter the weather, stick around to see why the grass is always greener over here at AdShark!
Birthday Celebrations!
This month, we got to celebrate not one, but TWO birthdays on the AdShark team! To kick things off, we celebrated Digital Creative Designer Nick Loock’s birthday, which also happens to be Pi Day (3.14… get it?), by throwing a pie party! Just a couple of weeks later, we also got to celebrate Digital Marketing Strategist Gavin Longthorne’s birthday. Even though Gavin’s birthday isn’t on a random dessert-related holiday, Happy birthday, Nick and Gavin!
RMHC Volunteering!
What’s a shark’s favorite treat? A jellyfish-filled donut!
This past month, the AdShark team spent a morning volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Red River Valley by baking some treats for their guests. Since we didn’t have access to any jellyfish, we thought some shark-themed treats were the next best thing! To learn more about RMHC or to schedule a time to volunteer with them, be sure to check out their website.
Movie Night!
Picture this: an Interstellar remake with Star Wars characters, but it’s also Jurassic Park. Combine that with popcorn, soda, comfy chairs, and a room full of digital marketers, and you’ve got an AdShark movie night! Please enjoy our “rollercoaster” picture taken just before the film.
Creative Feature: CULTivate!
This month’s creative feature is a recent ad we ran for CULTivate, a board game by Pops & Bejou Games which just happens to be located right here in Fargo, ND! Here to talk more about the ad’s design, here is Senior Creative Designer Bri Lee:
CULTivate board game has been one of the most fun projects I’ve worked on this year. What’s not to enjoy? The game itself flows quickly and smoothly, the punny humor is unmatched and the art is playful and full of color. For this specific campaign, our goal was to focus on two elements – strong visuals highlighting what’s included in the box and short, but impactful testimonials. For someone who hasn’t played the game before, the use of bright imagery and bold text provides the ideal introduction to the game and iIncluding testimonials from fellow players builds trust, excitement, and encourages the viewer to want to learn more.

Thanks, Bri! If you’re looking for a fun new addition to game night with your friends, check out CULTivate here.
