Welcome Geneva Nodland – AdShark’s Newest Digital Creative!

I’m so happy to announce another member to the AdShark team: Geneva Nodland!

Yes, we got blessed in the month of May with not just one, but TWO new digital creatives! Although Geneva has only been at AdShark for a few days, her bubbly personality, cool style, and creative flair already have us excited for what’s to come. Her impressive creative background, from photography to writing & editing, had us in awe, and we knew she would be an amazing addition to the team.

Let’s dive in and learn more about Geneva and her background below!

Welcome to the AdShark team, Geneva! We’re so excited to have you here😊 What caught your eye about us and made you want to work at AdShark?

Happy to be here! AdShark caught my attention for a few reasons, one being that everyone who works here looks like they have so much fun and love their job—which is so important! Second, I was drawn to ads that were created by AdShark for local businesses. In turn, I wanted to be a part of that creative process. I wanted to make something that not only caught attention, but supported a local business!

You have one sentence to describe yourself… GO!

I cannot describe anything in one average sentence, let alone myself… but, I’ll try—I am a creative who loves her community and loves building it (which includes but is not limited to: eating at local restaurants, attending local events, visiting with her friends and metaphorical neighbors, and participating in community-building activities).

Whoohoo! Now let’s see what you can tell us with a few more sentences. Tell us a little bit more about you.

I grew up in western North Dakota and attended college at Minnesota State University Moorhead. After graduating with a degree in journalism (as well as with a minor in English writing, a certificate in publishing, and an entirely naive understanding of the world but a great attitude nonetheless), I worked in the magazine marketing world where I honed my writing and photography skills. Now, I am embracing the idea of rounding out my creative skillset by pushing myself to create more. I still love to write and do photography, but I also enjoy painting (by the number, of course), digital and physical collaging, designing, and even cooking. I also enjoy biking and running (although I do question that one each and every time I begin my workout), camping, picnicking, and hammocking. I love to hang out with my 11-year-old niece and 5-year-old nephew, and you’ll often find me listening to music (lately I’ve been refamiliarizing myself with Miley Cyrus?) or an audiobook.

What category on Netflix are you most likely to scroll through and find a new show or movie?

Rom-Coms

As a Digital Creative, you’ll be helping our clients’ ads get seen by the masses. What is the most exciting part, in your opinion, of working in advertising?

I categorize myself as a lifelong learner—which I would actually argue that everyone should—so the most exciting part of working in advertising is learning about so many different clients and audiences, so many different stories, and so many different ways to tell that story!

In your opinion, what do you think are the best three albums of all time?

This is so hard. (Not in order)

“The Sun Will Come up, The Seasons Will Change” by Nina Nesbitt (she was ahead of her time, she would have loved this girlypop era we’re in).

“Nectar” by Joji

“÷” by Ed Sheeran (there just isn’t a bad song on there).

You’re into photography, and you’re really good at it too! If you could photograph any person (living or historical), who would it be?

This is also really hard. I would choose my great-great grandmother Alice. I grew up seeing a painted portrait of her in my home and I was always fascinated by the composition. I would love the chance to recreate it.

If you could travel to any place in the world for a week, where would you choose to go?

I would travel to Greece to have my own “Mamma Mia!” moment.

If your life were a movie, what would the title be – and who would play you?

“No More Lemonade!” Starring Zooey Deschanel

At AdShark, we love our coffee walks! What’s your go-to coffee (or tea) order when you’re in work mode?

Iced americano with sugar-free hazelnut or vanilla and a splash of oatmilk!

Last but not least, what’s your favorite type of shark?

The omnivorous one, a bonnethead shark.

Well, I think you can see why we’re so excited for Geneva to join the team. If you want to send her a congratulatory email or a warm hello, you can reach her at geneva@adshark.com. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more company updates and events! Toodles!
