Welcome Jordyn Zavesky – AdShark’s New Digital Creative!
We have an exciting new announcement, so put your fins together to welcome Jordyn Zavesky to our team! Jordyn is a new digital creative, and we couldn’t be happier to have her here! After our first interview with Jordyn, we knew she was something special that would bring a multitude of amazing creative work to AdShark and our clients. She’s received a Student ADDY Award for 3 years in a row, and has impressive design work we can’t wait to see come to fruition with clients!
I can’t wait to introduce you to Jordyn! Let’s learn more about her in the blog below!
Welcome to the tank, Jordyn! We’re so excited to have you here😊 What caught your eye about us and made you want to work at AdShark?
Thank you! I’m super excited to be here too!
About a year to a year and a half ago, I was recommended by Alex Fogarty—one of my professors at MSUM and the former SOMADE Department Chair—to participate in a local student focus group that Jack and Justin were hosting. Right away, the team at AdShark made me feel comfortable, welcomed, and heard. It was refreshing to see a local agency actively seeking feedback from students on how they could improve, attract new talent, and continue prioritizing the well-being, personal agency, and growth of their team.
Fast forward to about a year later—after I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree from MSUM this past December (2024), Alex reached out again to let me know about an opening for the Digital Creative role. I felt a strong connection to AdShark’s core values and my previous positive experience with the team had really stuck with me. So, I quickly polished up my portfolio and applied right away, and I’m so glad I did!
You have one sentence to describe yourself… GO!
Driven by a desire to understand the world around me, constantly seeking the what, why, and how of everything I invest my time in, while appreciating the beauty in all the small details and people I encounter along the way.
Whoohoo! Now let’s see what you can tell us with a few more sentences. Tell us a little bit more about you.
A few things to know about me are…
- I graduated from High School during the COVID-19 pandemic in May of 2020.
- I love animals (especially cats & birds)
-
- I have always held a great sense of respect, empathy, and justice for all animals.
- In elementary school, I would create individual posters of all the animals at my local shelter and print them out at my grandparents’ house after school because I was told, “ I couldn’t adopt them all”, but still wanted to help in any way I could.
- I especially love my cuddle bug Hazel, who plays fetch (on her own terms) & talks to me all day long.
- Music has always played a big role in my life
-
- My love for music started with the jukebox we had in my house growing up. My dad is a field service technician, so I’ve always had access to old arcade machines, jukeboxes, and whatever other fun machines he decided to bring home.
- I’ve also had the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments during my time at school. I played violin from 4th grade – high school, clarinet in middle school, bassoon in high school, and picked up the bass guitar in college to play in a local rock band.
- And I’ve won a few student AAF ADDY Awards during my time at MSUM, and I’m currently in the running at the national level for my senior capstone project, which is super exciting!
If you could time travel to any era, where would you go and why?
- Either the Renaissance or the future, but for similar reasons.
- I’d love to experience the groundbreaking scientific discoveries and opulent art during the era of the Renaissance in Europe.
- However, I may be even more curious to see what humanity looks like in the future (at least 200+ years) in regards to the arts and technological advances, but also the social and environmental changes on Earth. (Hopefully, humanity can keep it together that long!).
What’s your “hot take” on something totally harmless (like food or fashion)?
- DaVinci Resolve is a MUCH better video editing software than Adobe Premiere—coming from a former Adobe Premiere user.
- Also, I don’t love coffee or watermelon, which I’ve been told is a hot take.
As a digital creative, you’ll create some amazing ads for our clients. What is the most exciting part, in your opinion, of working in digital advertising?
- Something I’ve always loved about the online and creative industries is that they are constantly evolving, and there are always opportunities to grow and learn. It’s great to know that I’ll never feel stagnant in this field, and I’ll always have opportunities to experiment.
What’s your favorite makeup trend right now?
- The revival and repackaging of the 2016 makeup style! I’m excited to see that the pendulum is swinging back towards having fun with eyeshadow shape and colors, while taking the lessons we’ve learned from the “clean girl era”. AKA not going as heavy with foundation, concealer, and caked-on powder, balancing our natural features with more expressive makeup designs.
- The 2016 style eyeshadow was my calling card in high school (and still kinda is now). I used to get up at the crack of dawn every morning during high school to do a “full beat”.
What stood out to you about AdShark and made you want to work here?
- I admired the emphasis AdShark has on culture, especially the flexibility, autonomy, and furthering of employee education.
If you could rebrand any major company just for fun, who would it be and why?
- Casey’s, I miss their old branding 🙁
- (Another hot take) – Not every brand needs to update to a “modern”, “sleek” brand style; it can ruin the brand’s uniqueness and charm that they’ve been known for.
Outside of work, what are your three favorite hobbies?
- Going down internet rabbit holes and learning about new things (useful or not).
- Anything within the realm of art and self-expression (Makeup, drawing w/ pen & pencils, painting, etc.).
- Yoga & listening to music or a good video essay on YouTube.
Last but not least, what’s your favorite type of shark?
- They always look like they just heard you say something devious (and are judging you hard for it). A little socially awkward, a smidge empty-brained, a bit judgmental, and my favorite shark.
