Welcome Micah Gallagher – AdShark’s New Intern!

We can’t wait to introduce you to AdShark’s new intern: Micah Gallagher!

Although Micah is a new employee, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know him over the past few months. He used to work at Jimmy Johns (which the AdShark office is a super big fan of) so we would see him pop in for deliveries once in awhile. He even solved our treasure hunt almost instantly for AdShark Week in July! Micah is driven, outgoing, and has a passion that we are so excited for. We just HAD to bring him on as a digital marketing intern. We can’t wait to watch him learn and grow his impressive skillset!

In true AdShark fashion, we wanted to get the inside scoop on Micah and his hobbies/passions (outside of digital marketing, of course). So, without further ado, welcome Micah to the team and learn more about him below!

We’re so excited to have you on the team, Micah! What caught your eye about us and made you want to work at AdShark?

What initially sparked my interest in AdShark were the interactions I’ve had with its employees over the past couple of years. Every time I delivered a Jimmy John’s sandwich to the office or ran into an employee in the wild, it was always a wonderful experience. Everyone I met was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely happy, which left a lasting impression. The work environment at AdShark struck me as both cohesive and engaging—a testament to the incredible people the company hires. I knew it would be an honor to work with them.

You have one sentence to describe yourself… GO!

I’m a hardworking marketing intern by day and a struggling musician by night.

Nice! Now let’s see what you can tell us with a few more sentences. Tell us a little more about you.

I’ve always been someone who enjoys trying my hand at just about everything. While I’ve picked up countless hobbies, none of them have quite paid the bills. Along the way, I’ve learned that being excellent at one thing can take you far, but being pretty good at a lot of things doesn’t have the same effect. During my time at NDSU, I pursued both a Marketing degree and my music career. Though I earned my degree, I realized I still lacked practical experience in the field. Marketing myself as a musician didn’t exactly translate to digital marketing expertise, which is why I feel incredibly blessed for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience from the best.

(I am unfortunately wearing the blue singlet)

You are quite the performer/singer, and love all things music. So tell us, if you could open for any musician, who would you pick?

Tyler Childers – Although he is not my all-time favorite artist, I think the style of music I have been playing recently would fit nicely with a Tyler Childers concert.

Throughout your internship, you’ll learn more about digital ads, and about AdShark’s client experience. What are you most excited to learn about?

During my internship, I’m most excited about diving into the world of digital ads, specifically how different platforms and strategies drive results for their clients. I am also very eager to learn how AdShark builds and maintains such strong relationships with their clients. It seems that mastering the technical as well as the interpersonal sides of marketing might be the key to long-term success… and AdShark does both phenomenally.

What’s your all-time favorite, could never get sick of, play on repeat forever & ever album?

Ten – Pearl Jam

Let’s say there’s a completely different universe that’s identical to ours. What do you think alternate-universe Micah would be doing right now?

In an alternate universe, I’d be playing in the NHL for the Dallas Stars. I’ve never played organized hockey, but the few times I’ve hit the ice with friends at outdoor rinks were some of the most fun and competitive moments I’ve ever had. With my build and both my mental and physical attributes, I think I was better suited for hockey than some of the other sports I ended up sinking time into.

If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who would you invite and why?

My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ – (This one was easy)

You wake up one morning, check the mail, and see there’s a check for a million dollars with your name on it. What’s the first thing you’d buy?

I would pay off my student loans, then buy a fancy new guitar.

Just like a few others in the office, we hear you like to PARtake in golf, and that you’re pretty dang good at it, too! So tell us… do you have any beginner secrets or tips?

My number one piece of advice is to learn how to manage frustration. It’s okay to get upset over a bad shot, but you have to let it go—otherwise, it can ruin your entire round.

Just as important, though, is being someone people enjoy golfing with. No one wants to play with someone who is 1) slow or 2) grumpy because they’re having a bad day on the course. Limit yourself to no more than two practice swings, and if you hit a bad shot, drop your ball up by a buddy and keep it moving. The more people want to play with you, the more you’ll play—and the more you play, the better you’ll get.

And, of course, what’s your favorite type of shark?

I’ve heard that Thresher sharks use their tails like whips to stun their prey, which I think is pretty awesome. That definitely earns the Thresher a spot as my favorite shark.

Micah, we’re so happy you’re on the team! If you want to send him a congratulatory email, you can message him at micah@adshark.com. Thanks for checking in on our blog, and we look forward to introducing you to another Shark in the future!
