Welcome Xyle Altura – AdShark’s Newest Creative Intern!

Last week was a busy one for us, and we were so lucky to welcome not only one, but TWO new interns! Xyle, our new creative intern has already wowed us with his unique creative style, and cool outfits. During his interviews, we were so impressed with his skillset and creative abilities that we knew we had to bring him on the team.

He just finished his first week, and I had to get the inside scoop on him and all of his cool hobbies. Learn more about him down below!

Welcome to the tank Xyle! We’re so excited to have you here 🙂 What caught your eye about us and made you want to work at AdShark?

What caught my eye about AdShark is how it aligns with my curiosity about advertising in the digital space. As a creative, I’ve liked making graphics, photos, and videos. I noticed that as I’ve grown as a creative that the majority of my creative projects looked like it could be a form of advertisement. I also enjoy making content in social media and learning how I can grow my account to reach more audiences. All in all, AdShark seemed to be the place that could help me further improve my skills and knowledge towards my career.

You have one sentence to describe yourself… GO!

 I’m an explorer, a seeker, a risk-taker, and adaptable to this adventure we call life.

Awesome! Now let’s see what you can tell us with a few more sentences. Tell us a little bit more about you.

 Well, my story really started all the way back in the Philippines, where I was born, but then I moved to South Dakota, USA, in 2017. Fast forward to now, and here I am in Fargo, ND. Yes, we love to travel a lot. Also, I moved to a lot of different schools because of my parents’ work, which taught me to become adaptive to my environment and also learn a lot of different perspectives from different backgrounds. 

As a child, I always dipped my toes into too many hobbies or activities, such as different kinds of sports, music, and art. Now that I am an adult, creative hobbies are the ones that have stuck with me consistently. I’ve always liked making art but wasn’t sure what I really wanted to do specifically. By the time I graduated high school,  the Pandemic hit, so I took my moms camera and started playing around with it to make use of my time. Then later on I got introduced to the world of graphic design. While I do love both photography and graphic design, I also have a passion for posting and creating content through social media, where I share what I’ve created through my creative skills and being able to learn and connect with others. As much as possible,  I try to expose myself and what I do out into the world to seek opportunities to help me become a better me. Besides all my creative endeavors, in my free time, I like to clear my mind through exercise, traveling, and hanging out with the people I love. That may seem quite a bit of a rollercoaster but that’s a quick spiel about me!

What’s your favorite family tradition?

Travelling and exploring new places.

If you could only play 5 albums on loop for the rest of your life, what would they be?!

Here are 5 albums I chose (not in any particular order):

During your internship, you’ll be able to create some amazing ads for our clients, and you’ll learn more about our process at AdShark. What excites you the most about your new role?

The possibilities of unlocking new skills, connections and opportunities.

 If you could swap places with a fictional character for a day, who would it be and why?

 If  I could swap places with a fictional character, it would be Sam Witwicky from Transformers because who wouldn’t want to be around Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and the rest of the Autobots. Like seriously, you own a Camaro that turns into a robot… What more could you ask for!?

As an intern, you’ll be hearing lots of new information and learning even more along the way! What’s your goal during your first month at AdShark?

 I have a few goals for the first month such as understanding and getting comfortable with everything and everyone, being on time, doing great things, and most importantly is to have fun!

If you could design a new logo for any famous brand, which one would you pick?

A famous brand that could use a new logo update would be Alibaba.com.

You’re originally from the Philippines, which is so dang cool! What’s one Filipino dish you think everyone needs to try at least once?

Everyone needs to try Sinigang because it’s a bowl full of warmth and goodness!

Last but not least, what’s your favorite type of shark?

 If I were to pick my favorite type of shark, it would probably be a Whale Shark. Because Whale Sharks may look big and intimidating, they are still nice and not dangerous. This sets a reminder to me that opportunities that come my way that look intimidating and scary, may actually not be that bad.
