Welcome Callie Stonecipher – AdShark’s Newest Digital Creative!

We are so excited to welcome the newest Shark to the tank – Ms. Callie Stonecipher! We first met Callie this past year when her and her class from MSUM toured AdShark. Callie was taking notes & asking great questions, and immediately piqued our team’s interest! Sure enough, when a position opened at AdShark, we sent her the listing and the rest is history!

Though you’ll all get to know Callie more if you follow our social channels & work with us on creative projects, we thought we’d introduce you to her NOW in the only way we know how: through an interview blog!

Welcome to AdShark! As you settle into your first week at our company, what has been your biggest surprise so far?

Being that this is my first job out of college (I graduated last week), I was a little nervous about adjusting to the workplace. I was really pleasantly surprised by how unstressful and relaxed the environment at AdShark is! Everyone has been so welcoming and I feel like I can reach out to anyone if I have questions.

You have one sentence to describe yourself… GO!

I’m a cheery person who gets easily excited and tends to overschedule herself with a laundry list of hobbies including art, choir, volleyball, working out, and reading!

Cool! Now let’s see what you can tell us with a few more sentences. Tell us a little bit more about you.

I’m from Bismarck, ND but I’ve been in the Fargo/Moorhead area since 2020, when I started at MSUM.
I love playing volleyball (I’m a middle blocker and super competitive), singing in choir and a capella groups, reading, and spending time with friends. I also love traveling, especially since I spent a semester abroad in England!

Callie, you’ve shared with us already that you’re passionate about animation. Tell us: what animated movie sparked your interest in animation?!

Though it’s hard to choose just one, I’ve always loved older Disney films that I grew up watching as a kid. The Aristocats has always stood out to me because it feels so full of life and the animators created such amazing and lifelike personalities!

As a Digital Creative, you’ll be helping our clients’ ads get seen by the masses. What is the most exciting part, in your opinion, of working in advertising?

I’m looking forward to working with a diverse group of companies and products! I spent the last eight months working on my capstone film, and while that was incredibly rewarding, I’m excited to jump between different formats like video and static ads, and different products, from cars to restaurants to chandeliers!

If you could travel to any place in the world for a week, where would you choose to go?

I’ve always wanted to visit Switzerland, and I would immediately take a train through the mountains, eat lots of chocolate, and do lots of hiking!

Which national brand do you think KILLS it with their marketing or design?

I’ve been impressed by Bubblr’s marketing, from product design to how they’ve targeted a younger audience through their advertising. I thought utilizing “Bubbl’r Ambassadr’s”, college students who promote the brand and products to their friends and followers, was a unique strategy to get young adults more invested in the brand.

If you could travel back in time and give 13-year-old Callie any piece of advice, what would it be?

I think the biggest thing I’ve learned through my high school and college experience is to not get anxious about other peoples’ opinions about you. Everyone is navigating life and figuring it out one day at a time, so you don’t need to get wrapped up in what you THINK people are thinking about you. Just keep a positive mindset, communicate to solve any issues, and be kind to others and yourself!

Let’s say you and your closest friends are starting a book club. What are the first 3 books you make everybody in the group read?

I’d say we start off with A Gentleman in Moscow, which is just so fun and entertaining, then The Book Thief to make everyone cry, and end with Where the Crawdads Sing.

If you were forced to start a podcast, what would your podcast be about, and WHO would be your first guest on the pod?!

I would love to dive more into the world of character animation and how animators create such vibrant personalities! I’d bring on Aaron Blaise, an animator who worked at Disney for 21 years and can bring characters to life in an incredible way.

And, of course, what’s your favorite type of shark?

Zebra shark!

We are so excited to see all of the wonderful things that Callie does while she’s on Team AdShark! If you’re wanting to welcome her to the team, shoot her an email to callie@adshark.com. In the meantime, thanks for checking out our blog & we’ll look forward to introducing you to another Shark soon!
