Welcome Ellie Johnson – AdShark’s Newest Digital Creative!
I’m so happy to be writing another welcome blog for a new team member whom we welcomed last week! Meet Ellie Johnson, a new digital creative on the AdShark team! She’s a Concordia grad with a passion for creativity and design, and she’s excited to dive into the world of digital advertising. She is officially one week at AdShark, and has fit in perfectly. She even came to our annual grill-out event on her second day (props to you, Ellie).
We were so excited to have her on the team that we knew we had to sit down and hear more about her. Learn more about Ellie in the blog below!
Welcome to the AdShark team, Ellie! We’re so happy to have you on the team😊 What caught your eye about us and made you want to work at AdShark?
I am so excited to join the AdShark team! There are countless reasons why AdShark caught my attention… One of the main being that the office environment is truly unmatched. I really appreciate the team-focused office environment. Not to mention, all of the employees at AdShark seem to genuinely love their job which was a huge draw for me.
You have one sentence to describe yourself… GO!
I’d describe myself as pretty quiet and introverted at first, but once you get to know me, I love making others laugh and exploring new opportunities, whether it’s picking up a new hobby, traveling, or trying out new foods.

Whoohoo! Now, let’s see what you can tell us with a few more sentences. Tell us a little bit more about you.
I grew up and attended school in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, where I graduated in May of 2020 at the peak of the Covid pandemic. At the time, I had been working as a CNA at a memory care assisted living facility, which led me to pick nursing as my career field. I then attended MSUM for one year post-grad and transferred for my sophomore year to Concordia. At Concordia, I competed on the Women’s golf team and continued on my path of Nursing for another year. The second semester when I got into Organic Chemistry was when I had to re-evaluate. 🥴
In my junior year of college, I made the decision to switch my major to Communication Studies, which was a significant adjustment. I have always struggled with math so I was hesitant to pursue Marketing. By senior year, I decided to add on a graphic design minor, and I quickly realized that I thrive in creative environments.
I have been in the Fargo-Moorhead area for about five years, and currently share a home with my boyfriend Ian. We’re also hoping to add a dog to the family soon! 🤞I love going to workout classes with friends, reading, hanging with my family dogs, and visiting my parents’ lake home.

What’s your #1 goal for yourself in your first 90 days here?
Become acclimated to my environment, build relationships with my co-workers, and start meaningfully contributing to the agency as a whole!
Do you prefer a sunrise round or a sunset round of golf?
Besides the absurd amount of bugs after 7pm in the summer, I would have to pick a sunset round for sure.

Do you have a favorite way to spend free time or get creative outside of work?
I love spending my free time exploring a variety of hobbies, from reading and coloring to drawing, painting, cooking, and taking workout classes. I also enjoy experimenting on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, where I create brands, packaging, and logos for fun.

As a digital creative, you’ll be helping our clients’ ads get seen by the masses. What is the most exciting part, in your opinion, of working in advertising?
Creating assets that give clients a feeling of success and actual tangible success, as well as getting to see your work out in the world.
What national brand do you think KILLS it with their marketing or design?
The North Face. I think they do an amazing job with keeping a clear and concise brand message at the forefront, not only in their social media content but also in their ads. Their branding focuses on real people, using authentic stories to influence purchases rather than trying to directly sell a product.
What are your top 5 favorite movies of all time?
- Clueless
- Beetlejuice One and Two
- White Chicks
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
- Mamma Mia
If you could start your own podcast tomorrow, what would you call it, and what would the theme or focus be?
My podcast would be called “Booked & Busy”. It would feature a rotating cast of guests (preferably smaller or local authors), where we discuss what book we read over the past week and answer any listener questions about it.
And last but not least, what’s your favorite type of shark?
Hammerhead, mostly because I only know of a few sharks, and that one’s the most cool looking. 😎
Ellie, we couldn’t be happier to have you on our team & to have you making killer ads for our clients! If you want to reach out to Ellie and send her a warm welcome or congratulatory email, you can reach her at ellie@adshark.com. Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to check back in for more updates.
