Welcome Nathan Kapaun – AdShark’s Newest Digital Strategist!

We’re back with another blog to introduce a new team member who started this week! Meet Nathan Kapaun, a new Digital Strategist on the AdShark team! He’s a University of Jamestown grad with a passion for marketing and client growth, and he’s excited to dive into the world of digital advertising. He’s almost one week down at AdShark, and has been killing it so far.

We were so excited to have him on the team that we knew we had to sit down and hear more about him. Learn more about Nathan in the blog below!

Welcome to the AdShark team, Nathan! We’re so happy to have you with us 🙂 What caught your eye about us and made you want to work at AdShark?

Adshark caught my attention by being well respected in the FM community, as well as being a best place to work recipient. I also felt that Adshark would be a great place to learn from others around me about the ever changing landscape of digital marketing.

You have one sentence to describe yourself… GO!

I am a continuous learner, always looking to become better at work by seeking new challenges and expanding my skillset.

Perfect! Now, let’s see what you can tell us with a few more sentences. Tell us a little bit more about you.

I have a team first mentality, whether it be the businesses I collaborate with or the team members at Adshark, I am excited to bring my growth mindset to the table and contribute wherever I can.

On a personal level, I do enjoy time at home with family, as well as the occasional round of golf. I also enjoy spending time at state and national parks looking for the next great hike.

What’s your #1 goal for yourself in your first 90 days here?

To make a positive impact on everyone that I come in contact with, both on the team and businesses we work with.

We heard you have a pretty extensive golfing background? Tell us more about that! Alsooo…from your short interactions with Rick (our CEO), what are the odds of you beating him at golf?👀😂

I do! I played golf at the collegiate level where our team made it to the national tournament twice. I then was blessed enough to coach at the same University, which was an amazing experience diving into course strategy and golf performance. I don’t play as much as in previous years but I do try to play in USGA qualifiers and local tournaments as my golf game allows.

From my short interactions with Rick, I would definitely request strokes for a potential match. As far as the odds, that is tough to say but only one way to find out!

What does a perfect Saturday look like for you when you’re not crushing it at the workplace?

Perfect Saturday starts with a morning walk with my wife and son to grab coffee and watch the cars drive past (my son loves cars right now so loves to wave at any car he sees). Then head to the course or driving range to play some golf either with family or friends. Ending the day with food on the grill and a Twins game on the tv.

As a Digital Strategist, you’ll be helping our clients’ ads get seen by the masses. What is the most exciting part, in your opinion, of working in advertising?

The most exciting part of digital advertising is that the learning never stops. You are constantly testing new creatives and ad copy to see what resonates with customers. Every ad you run can teach you something based on the results.

What national brand do you think KILLS it with their marketing or advertising?

As a golfer it is easy for me to use golf brands as reference. I may cheat and give two brands that have a very different way of marketing. Taylormade does a great job in the creator/influencer space of getting their product name out to consumers. The brand that I think does a great job at marketing is Titleist because they are more brand focused and let their brand name tell their story.

VERY important question, what are your top 5 favorite movies of all time?

  1. Dazed and Confused
  2. Gladiator
  3. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
  4. CaddyShack
  5. Dune 1&2

If you could start your own podcast tomorrow, what would you call it, and what would the theme or focus be?

The Midwest Muni Tour – A group of buddies and I would speak about “hidden gem” golf courses in the midwest. Talk about the golf course but also speak to what there is to do in the area and other hidden gems along the way.

And last but not least, what’s your favorite type of shark?

The Shortfin Mako Shark

Nathan, we couldn’t be more excited to have you on our team & to have you making killer ads for our clients!
