#SharkSwim: May 2021 Recap

I feel like a broken record but, man. Where did this past month go?! Between a flurry of culture-related events, new employees being onboarded, and digital marketing projects that we completed for clients it feels like May only lasted one blink-of-an-eye. The good news is that the sun is shining, the weather is warming up, and summer is officially here!

In the month of May we had four birthdays, three new hires, two Chamber events we participated in, and one heckuva good time. Read all about it in this month’s recap blog!

Birthdays & Anniversaries!

From Left to Right: Mike Mulvaney, Justin Monroe, Jack Yakowicz, Eric Anderson

Though there were no anniversaries this month (well, aside from our new hires), we had a lot of celebrating to do with our birthday boys! Eric Anderson (May 4th), Jack Yakowicz (May 11th), Mike Mulvaney (May 14th), and Justin Monroe (May 25th) all had birthdays this past month. We Eric, Jack, and Justin’s birthdays by signing cards and having balloons by their desks. For Mike (our Florida-based Shark), we sent him a special gift in the mail. It’s always fun to make our birthday sharks feel special on their big day!

Three New Hires in May!

From Left to Right: Meghan, Nick, Izak

The AdShark team gained three friendly, new faces in the month of May and we could not be more thrilled! If you follow our blog or social media, you may have already seen their announcements, but we’d like to shine the spotlight on our new friends one more time. Please wish a warm welcome to:

These three have already delivered some new energy to our office, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch them grow within our company! We’re also actively looking for another new hire in the form of a Digital Marketing Strategist. If you know of anybody who is looking for an exciting career opportunity at a fast-paced digital agency, let us know!

Taking a Stroll to Fargo Brewing Company!

Every now and again, we feel the need to turn off our computers early and go grab a beer together. The #PlanSharks (our event planning/culture committee) set up a happy hour event at the newly renovated Fargo Brewing Company taproom on Thursday, May 7th. It was a lovely opportunity to connect with one another over Kenny’s Lemonades. Special thanks to FBC for the hospitality. If you haven’t checked out this space yet, we’d highly recommend it!

Hope was Bloomin’ This Month!

On May 13th, we had eight employees go out and volunteer at Hope Blooms in North Fargo. Hope Blooms is a nonprofit organization that repurposes flowers (from weddings, funerals, florists, etc.) and turns them into beautiful bouquets that are delivered to individuals with long-term illnesses, people living in nursing homes, or families facing difficult times. Our team of Sharks enjoyed having the opportunity to learn more about this wonderful organization while creating our own bouquets and delivering them to a nursing home in Fargo. Here’s a collage of shots from our day of volunteering:

AdShark Finishes as a “Runner-up” for the YP Best Place to Work Award!

We loved having the opportunity to sponsor and attend the Chamber Choice Awards hosted by the FMWF Chamber in May. It was even more exciting to hear our name called out as a finalist for the Young Professionals’ Best Place to Work Award. This was our second straight nomination for this award, and our first time showing up in the Top 3 finalists. Congrats to all of the winners of Chamber Choice Awards; you continually inspire us! Also, a big thank you to our own team members for making AdShark a great place to work.

(Almost, but not Really) Winning the Corporate Cup!

In AdShark’s first year participating in the Chamber’s Corporate Cup, we finished somewhere between 3rd and 37th place in the Recreational Division. We’re claiming 3rd. Regardless of how we fared at the events, we had a BLAST competing in some friendly competition against other Chamber businesses! This day was complete with kickball, golf chipping, volleyball, tug of war, calisthenics, frisbee, and more. It also concluded with beers at Junkyard, which may have been the best part. Here are some photos and videos from our competition. Our offseason of vigorous training to win the 2022 Corporate Cup starts today.

The ‘Shark Wave’ Channel for May 2021

Does anybody listen to these?! Well, we’re going to keep making them regardless. At the end of every month, we ask our team to contribute songs that they listened to over the past month into this playlist which we share for you. The May 2021 ‘Shark Wave’ Playlist is a collection of some of the sounds we listened to while working on your digital ads. We hope you find a couple new songs that you enjoy!

The final noteworthy piece from our month of May was the addition of Summer Hours which went live last Friday! Moving forward, our team will only be working a half-day on Fridays so they can enjoy their summer to an even greater degree. We’ll still be there to handle any digital advertising, SEO, or web design projects that come our way, but are excited to offer a new perk to our hardworking staff members. Thanks for reading this blog, and we hope you have an excellent rest of your week! We’ll check back in at the end of June.
